Prabhat Samiti is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) registered under Society Registration Act, 1860. The organization was registered in Banda, Uttar Pradesh (UP) in the year 1990. It works on the issue of inclusion of marginalized Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities in accessing basic services, entitlements and justice. The organization is striving to address issues of marginalized communities of Bundelkhand.
We aim to strengthen access of marginalized Scheduled Caste (SC) communities and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities who are recognized as SC in Uttar Pradesh (UP) in accessing social justice and government services. At present we are working in five districts of the state, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Jaunpur, Mahoba, and Saharanpur.
Organization develops the capacity of SC communities on government schemes and The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (POA Act) and facilitates the community in accessing government services. Cases of caste-based atrocities against SC communities are being tracked to provide support to victims of violence in accessing justice and financial aid from government schemes.
We support the community in tracking government services, including health, nutrition, education, jobs, rations, etc., in an inclusive manner and supports them in developing a community-based inclusive development plan to include their needs in the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP).
